The agricultural production value stood at 823.6 million manats in Azerbaijan in January-March 2018, which is by 4.2 percent more than in the same period last year, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee said in a report.
In the reporting period, crop production increased by 63.2 percent (to 30.2 million manats), while livestock production – by 2.8 percent (to 793.4 million manats). During the reporting period, planting of spring crops continued in most districts of Azerbaijan.
In particular, 15,900 hectares were allocated for cereals and legumes, including 1,300 hectares for fodder corn, 28,100 hectares for potatoes, 25,800 hectares for vegetables, 2,400 hectares for melon crops, 5,000 hectares for sugar beet, 2,100 hectares for sunflower, 34,500 hectares for perennial grasses, 0,400 hectares for annual grasses and 0,300 hectares for other spring crops.
Besides, 119,200 tons of meat, 458,200 tons of milk, 434.6 million eggs were produced in Azerbaijan in January-March 2018. Compared to January-March 2017, production of meat grew 3.4 percent, milk - by 1.7 percent, eggs - by 2.1 percent.
