Baku, Azerbaijan, May 3
By Ilkin Shafiyev – Trend:
Bahrain businessmen are ready to invest a significant amount of funds into Azerbaijan’s economy, Elshan Rahimov, chairman of the Association for Cooperation of Azerbaijan and Arab Countries, told Trend May 3.
“Entrepreneurs from Bahrain are very interested in investing in the Azerbaijani economy,” Rahimov said. “To do this, first of all, the two countries must sign an agreement on the promotion and mutual protection of investments. Azerbaijan has already signed such documents with the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. The signing of the agreement with Bahrain is delayed. We hope that this issue will be resolved soon.”
He noted that in general, investors from Bahrain intend to invest in all sectors of the Azerbaijani economy.
“Bahraini entrepreneurs plan to turn Azerbaijan into a regional financial center, because the geographical location of the country is very convenient,” he added. “They are ready to open financial institutions, investment funds, and even world-famous entertainment centers such as Disneyland in Azerbaijan.”
Azerbaijan’s trade turnover with the Arab countries amounted to about $74 million in the first quarter of 2018.
