WB: Inflation to reach five-year minimum in Azerbaijan

In 2020, the inflation rate in Azerbaijan will reach a five-year low of 3.9 percent, reads a new World Bank report, Cryptocurrencies and Blockchain: Europe and Central Asia Economic Update.

According to the report, the bank expects the inflation rate in the country at 6.4 percent in 2018, and 4.2 percent in 2019. The figure was 7.9 percent in 2017.

The Central Bank of Azerbaijan, with a view to curb the inflation, continued to tighten monetary and credit policy, actively reducing the manat liquidity through deposit auctions and issuing of notes.

The WB recommends the CBA to further tighten the monetary and credit policy.

In January-April 2018, the inflation rate in Azerbaijan was 3.5 percent. Monthly inflation in April was 0.2 percent.

Azerbaijan joined the WB group in 1992.
