Stockholm hosted the third round of the Turkmen-Swedish political consultations, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in a message on June 4.

The Swedish side was headed by the Head of the Department for Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden Andreas von Beckerath.

During the consultations, the Swedish side noted that it seeks to bring trade and economic relations between the two countries to a qualitatively new level.

Presently, the country is studying the state of Turkmenistan's trade cooperation with other countries of the European Union and plans to make concrete proposals on this issue, the ministry said.

The sides, exchanging views on pressing issues of expanding cooperation within international organizations such as the European Union and the UN, stressed the importance of intensifying relations in this direction.

They also discussed international and regional issues and exchanged views on Turkmenistan's initiatives in the fields of energy, transport, communications and the environment.

Over the past years, Turkmenistan has intensified interest in establishing ties with the countries of Scandinavia. Particularly, the State Statistics Committee previously stated that the economic experience of Finland is of particular interest for Turkmenistan.
