Baku, Azerbaijan, June 4

Azerbaijan’s Glass Industrial Corporation intends to significantly expand production, a source in the company told Trend June 4.
The company is working to expand its production capacity in order to meet the domestic demand, the source said.
“Marketing research by the company showed that demand for glass containers in Azerbaijan amounts to approximately 300 million conventional bottles per year,” the source noted. “The plant has two production lines of glass containers with an oven with capacity of 120 tons per day. Presently, only production line of transparent glass operates at the plant. The production volume is 35-38 million glass containers per year. In order to increase the production of colorless containers to 75-80 million conventional bottles per year, the second line is being prepared for commissioning. The completion and commissioning of the second line is scheduled for early 2019.”
The source added that presently the company is also working on establishing production of colored glass.
“The plant’s development plan envisages construction of a new line for the production of colored glass containers,” the source said. “In accordance with this project, sources of investment have been identified and the design and survey work involving foreign experts is underway.”
The source added that the expansion of the plant is planned to be completed in 2020. This will make it possible to significantly increase the manufacture of glass products in Azerbaijan, according to the source.
“All the work on the expansion of production is planned to be completed by the end of 2020,” the source said. “Upon completion of all the work, the production capacity of the plant will be 150-155 million bottles per year.”
