Azerbaijan, Pakistan work to increase trade turnover: Ambassador (Exclusive)

Azerbaijan and Pakistan currently work to increase the bilateral trade turnover, organizing meetings at the official level and determining the priority spheres for cooperation, Ambassador of Pakistan to Azerbaijan Saeed Khan Mohmand told Trend.

“The current level of trade between Pakistan and Azerbaijan do not correspond to the true potential, existing between the two countries, considering the tremendous level of goodwill that exists at the leadership and official levels, the cordial relations and respect that the people of the countries have for each other,” said the ambassador.

He added that both countries are making efforts to raise the level of trade relations.

“We hope the exchange of high level visits last year and in 2018 will greatly help in this regard,” said the ambassador.

Previously, Pakistan's Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, touching upon the main spheres of the Azerbaijan-Pakistan cooperation, mentioned energy sector, information technology, pharmaceutical sector, surgical and sports goods, leather industry and agriculture equipment and products.

Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Pakistan amounted to $5.2 million; $402,470 of accounted for export of Azerbaijan’s products to Pakistan, and $4.8 million accounted for import of Pakistani products to Azerbaijan.
