Continental Logistics Shymkent - main provider of clearance, storage services for goods from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan

Continental Logistics Shymkent LLC has become the main Kazakh company providing customs clearance and storage services for goods coming from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan to Kazakhstan and even to Russia, Forbes Kazakhstan reported.

The company owns the only A-class transport and logistics center (TLC) according to the Knight Frank international classification in Southern Kazakhstan.

Negotiations with Uzbek operators on creation of a joint venture are currently under way. A ‘green corridor’ for freight transport serviced in logistics centers of both countries will be organized within the joint venture.

The volume of transport is expected to reach 250,000-400,000 tons per year with the design capacity of the first stage of the TLC being 600,000 tons per year. The TLC also stores stocks of the Stabilization Fund of Kazakhstan.

Construction of the TLC was financed by the Development Bank of Kazakhstan. The loan provided by Continental Logistics Shymkent LLC amounted to 11.8 billion tenge with the project cost being 15.8 billion tenge. Loan repayment term is up to 15 years.

The main shareholder of Continental Logistics Shymkent LLC is Odyssey Investments Group LLC, affiliated with Orifjan Shadiev (31st place in Forbes Kazakhstan “Top 50 richest businessmen of Kazakhstan” ranking with a fortune of $177 million) through Continental Logistics LLC, which also owns, together with KTZ Express (a subsidiary of the KTJ national railway company), the Astana A-class TLC with a capacity of 1 million tons of cargo per year.

Orifzhan Shadiev also owns Capital Bank, shares in One & Top LLC, PRIME System KZ LLC, Integra Construction KZ LLC (formerly Zhol Zhondehushi), Todini Costruzioni Generali.
