Azerbaijan exported goods worth $7.37 billion in January-May 2018 that is by 65.6 percent more than in the same period last year, according to a report of the country’s State Customs Committee.
The share of state sector in export totaled $5.39 billion, private sector – $1.95 billion, individuals – $25.24 million. The share of private sector in exports increased from 17.6 percent to 26.5 percent for the year.
Azerbaijan mainly exported oil and oil products, gas, fruits and vegetable, plastic and plastic products in January-May 2018.

During the period, import totaled $3.86 billion, which is 37.86 percent more than in January-May 2017. Some $598.36 million accounted for the state sector share in import operations, and $3.02 billion – for the private sector, $232.67 million – for individuals.
Azerbaijan mainly imported various machines and mechanisms, ferrous metals, vehicles and spare parts, plastic and plastic products, wood and wood products during the reporting period.

Azerbaijan’s foreign trade operations increased by nearly 55 percent and amounted to $11.22 billion in January-May 2018, as compared to January-May 2017. The surplus in the reporting period amounted to $3.5 billion, which is 2.2 times more than in the same period last year.
