Crop production holds lion's share in Uzbek agricultural sector

In the 1H2018, the total volume of production and services of agriculture, forestry and fisheries in Uzbekistan amounted to 35.21 trillion soums, which is 2.7 percent more compared to the 1H2017, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan stated.

Crop production and livestock, hunting and services in these areas accounted for 35.01 trillion soums (an increase of 2.7 percent), forestry - 58.7 billion soums (0.7 percent), fisheries - 139.8 billion soums (30.2 percent).

The growth in agricultural production in Jan.-June 2018 compared with the corresponding period in 2017 amounted to 2.7 percent, including crop production – by 1.1 percent, livestock production – by 5.4 percent.

The volume of crop production in Jan.-June of 2018 amounted to 21.24 trillion soums, which is 1.1 percent higher compared to the same period in 2017. The share of crop production in the total volume of agricultural production was 61.5 percent.

The volume of livestock production in Jan.-June of 2018 amounted to 13.29 trillion soums, which is 5.4 percent higher compared to the same period in 2017. The share of livestock production in the total volume of agricultural production was 38.5 percent.

As of July 1, 2018, the total number of cattle reached 12.28 million heads, including cows - 4.4 million heads, sheep and goats - 21.05 million heads, birds - 74.2 million heads.

In all categories of farms the number of cattle increased by 106,900 heads (0.9 percent) compared with the corresponding period in 2017, including cows - by 70,300 heads (1.6 percent), sheep and goats - by 662,100 heads (3.2 percent), birds - by 5.29 million heads (7.7 percent).
