Azerbaijan to start wine export to Kazakhstan (Exclusive)

Azerbaijan will start wine export to Kazakhstan by the end of 2018, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Wine Producers and Exporters Association Elchin Madatov told Trend July 19.
"We expect the start of wine exports to Kazakhstan by the end of 2018. We also expect to expand exports to the Baltic countries, Ukraine and Belarus, which are potentially large markets for Azerbaijani wine," Madatov said.
He also noted that wine exports from Azerbaijan to the Baltic countries, Ukraine and Belarus are currently carried out in small volumes.
Madatov said the companies producing and exporting wine, regularly buy new technologies to improve and expand production, the launch of new enterprises producing wine has been scheduled for the next two months in Azerbaijan.
The country plans to increase the export of wine by five times until 2025 according to the State program for the development of winemaking in Azerbaijan in 2018-2025, approved by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
According to the data of the State Customs Committee, the export of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as wine vinegar amounted to $7 161 660 in January-June 2018, which is 36.44 percent less than in the same period in 2017. Imports, in turn, amounted to $35 835 160, which is 17.92 percent more than in 1H2017.
