Investment assets of EBRD in Azerbaijan growing

The total amount of investment of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in Azerbaijan for seven months of 2018 has increased by 346 million euros and has amounted to 3,163 billion euros at the end of July 2018, the head office of the bank told Trend Sept. 13.

The EBRD has allocated 2.817 billion euros to Azerbaijan according to the data as of January 1, 2018.

The share of the private sector in total volume of investment was 25 percent, which is eight percentage points lower than at the beginning of the year, according to the data.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan has paid over 370 million euros to the EBRD. As a result, the total volume of payments has amounted to 2,352 billion euros. The bank's operating assets in Azerbaijan has amounted to 979 million euros, which is 40.3 percent higher than at the beginning of the year.

The number of active EBRD projects in Azerbaijan at the end of July 2018 has amounted to 50, and the EBRD has implemented a total of 168 projects in Azerbaijan. The portfolio of active projects at the end of July has amounted to 1.426 billion euros, which is 21.4 percent more than at the end of last year.

Almost half of the EBRD's active portfolio in Azerbaijan - 709 million euros - has fallen to the share of energy projects, 42 percent, or 600 million euros – to the share of infrastructure projects, and 5 percent (72 million euros) – to the share of projects in the spheres of industry, commerce and agribusiness. Another three percent (45 million euros) has fallen to the share of the projects for financial institutions.
