Investment in Kazakhstan’s manufacturing industry up significantly

As much as 745,9 billion tenge was invested in Kazakhstan’s manufacturing industry in January-August this year, according to a survey by Energyprom.kz.

The figure is 41.8 percent higher than a year earlier. As much as 44.2 percent of the capital investments were made in the largest metropolis of Kazakhstan — Shymkent. Karaganda and Atyrau regions are also the leaders in attracting investments in the manufacturing industry – 9.9 and 7.5 percent, respectively.

The key investment magnets of the manufacturing industry are the production of gasoline and diesel as well as other oil refining products and coke (49.8 percent of capital investments), metallurgy (20.4 percent) and the food industry (11.2 percent). The three leading investment-attractive industries accounted for more than 80 percent of the sector's capital investments.

In addition to the growth of investments in the manufacturing industry, the share of the sector in the total volume of investments in the country is also growing – 11.7 percent of the total investment portfolio in the first 8 months of this year against 11 percent a year earlier.

At the same time, the share of manufacturing industry in the capital investments in the industrial sector reached 19.4 percent this year – as it was last year.
