EU, Turkmenistan develop co-op in field of transport logistics

A meeting with the representative of the European Union’s regional project "Strengthening transport and logistics business associations in Central Asia" Antonio Castro was held in Ashgabat in the office of the Turkmen Logistics Association (TLA), the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan said in a statement.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and UIET.

During the conversation, the sides discussed opportunities for cooperation in the framework of implementation of the EU project, including the development of institutional partnerships between the business associations of the European Union and Central Asia to promote the sustainable development of the transport sector and logistics practices, and to use innovative methods for this purpose, the message said.

Antonio Castro noted that the regional project of the European Union is aimed at supporting entrepreneurship, business associations and small and medium-sized businesses in the development of transport and logistics business, expanding exports in Central Asia.

In turn, TLA establishes a partnership with leading companies and international organizations and is working to improve the domestic transport system and increase the competitiveness of local carriers.

Turkmenistan borders with Kazakhstan, Iran, Russia, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan on land, and with Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan and Iran on sea.
