By Rashid Shirinov – Trend:

GDP growth in Kazakhstan for the first 9 months of this year amounted to 4.1 percent, National Economy Minister Timur Suleimenov said at a government meeting, according to Kazakh media.

“This is 0.3 percent higher than in the first 8 months. The main contribution to the acceleration of growth from basic industries was made by trade and the recovery in the dynamics of the construction industry,” the minister said, adding that the easing of inflationary pressure and the increase in investment demand also became the impetus for economic activity.

Suleimenov also noted that the inflation rate remains within 5-7 percent. In September it was 0.4 percent, from the beginning of the year — 3.3 percent, while the annual inflation totaled 6.1 percent.

“Investment activity of enterprises remains at high levels. Investments in fixed assets increased by 21.6 percent,” the minister added.

He further said that as of October 1, 2018, Kazakhstan's international reserves amounted to $86.4 billion, assets of the Kazakhstan National Fund — $56.3 billion, and gold and foreign exchange reserves — $30.0 billion.
