In January-September 2018, the volume of agricultural production in Azerbaijan in actual prices has amounted to 5.7 billion manats, which is 4.3 percent more than in the same period last year, as appears from the report of the State Statistics Committee.
According to the data given in the report, over the specified period, the manufacture of livestock products has increased by 2.7 percent (to 2.77 billion manats), and in the field of crop growing - by 5.8 percent (to 2.9 billion manats).
During the reporting period, the collection of spring crops continued in the country. As of early October, more than three million tons of grain and leguminous crops (not including corn) have been harvested from the fields.
Some 29.2 centners of products have been harvested from each hectare of the crop area. In addition, during the reporting period, 151,000 tons of corn have been harvested from a territory of 24,100 hectares.
In addition, during the reporting period, 852,800 tons of potatoes (1.1 percent decrease over the year), 1,298,100 tons of vegetables (6.3 percent growth over the year), 395,900 tons of melons and gourds ( a decline of 8.8 percent), 588,200 tons of fruits and berries (an increase of 6.3 percent), 111,200 tons of grapes (an increase of 1.4 percent), 736.3 tons of tea (an increase of 28.1 percent), 3,800 tons of tobacco (an increase of 4 percent) and 23,900 tons of sunflower seeds (a decrease of 19.8 percent) have been harvested.
During the reporting period, 364,700 tons of meat, 1,550,800 tons of milk, 1,295.9 million eggs and 15,600 tons of wool have been produced in the country. Compared to January-September 2017, meat production has increased by 3.3 percent, milk - by 1.8 percent, and the egg production has decreased by 0.7 percent, wool - by 0.7 percent.
In addition, during the reporting period, 514 tons of silkworm cocoons have been produced in the country, which is 2.1 times more than last year’s indicator. It is worth noting that this is the highest indicator of silkworm cocoon production in Azerbaijan over the past 20 years.
