Business Materials 20 October 2018 13:05 (UTC +04:00)

Uzbekistan is going to close state agricultural holding company O'zbekoziqovqatxolding, Uzbek media reported citing the draft decree of the head of state.

According to the information, the actual state of affairs in the food industry indicates the presence of problems related to overregulation of enterprise management, presence of redundant links and duplicating functions, the lack of systematic work, negatively affecting attraction of investments, introduction of advanced technologies and development of the industry as a whole.

The existence of a planned method for forecasting food industry production does not correspond to international practice and modern requirements, which results in manufacturers not being able to independently determine production volumes taking into account the current situation on the sales market, as well as to increase exports and promote national brands to foreign markets.

It is planned to transfer state shares in the authorized capitals of the organizations of the O'zbekoziqovqatxolding to the State Competition Committee.

The Uzagroexport company subordinate to the O'zbekoziqovqatxolding will be transferred to the Foreign Trade Ministry.

The Scientific and Technical Council and the Technical Committee for Food Standardization are planned to be transferred to the Agriculture Ministry, while the development of standards and technical regulations for food products will be transferred to the State Unitary Enterprise 'Center for Standardization of Agriculture'.

In addition, establishment of the Oziqovqatsanoat Association is planned. It should bring together on a voluntary basis, enterprises and organizations engaged in production and sale of food products.
