By Huseyn Veliyev – Trend:

Azerbaijan's Rabitabank OJSC is preparing to launch an updated online banking application, the bank’s Marketing Director Elmir Aliyev told Trend Oct. 23.

Aliyev noted that in contrast to the currently used standard application, the new installation package will include services that are relevant to bank customers at the moment.

"We intend to complete the tests by the end of the year, and to make the application available to our customers beginning from January. The application will be fully functional for the devices running on the Android and iOS operating systems," Aliyev said.

Aliyev noted that the Rabitabank OJSC recently took part in activities of the Finopolis-2018 innovative financial technologies forum, which was held October 17-19 in Russia's Sochi.

"We are interested in the innovative solutions that are being introduced in Russia. One of them is a single biometric system that allows banks and financial organizations to serve customers remotely. We were interested in the possibilities of introducing similar technologies in order to improve our service and be fully ready to serve customers through digital technologies at a time when the state program on the expansion of digital payments in Azerbaijan in 2018-2020 is being implemented in the country," Aliyev said.

He noted that the single biometric system is a rather interesting system and the Azerbaijani market is preparing for introduction of such innovations.

"Today, almost all Russian banks are introducing digital tools in their applications. We were interested in how such tools can be synchronized with banking services, as well as how they help to attract customers. This is important for us, since at the moment we are updating our Internet banking system and are considering the way how we can integrate that system into our application in the future," Aliyev said.

Aliyev said the single biometric system is the next stage of development of the electronic signature which is already being used in the country.

"It is noted in the state program of expansion of digital payments that by 2020, the financial instruments of banks should provide maximum convenience for remote customer service, and we are currently working on implementation of this task," Aliyev said.
