The outlines of the large-scale project Baku White City are visible from Nobel Avenue and Babek Avenue, and its completion depends on the activity of the private sector and its investments, Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijani State Committee for Architecture and Urban Planning Dovlatkhan Dovlatkhanov told Trend.
He noted that the White City is responsible for the implementation of the development project.
According to him, financing this kind of local projects is the responsibility of the private sector, and the state can invest in engineering infrastructure.
"For example, the funds can be invested for construction of a subway, which is planned in the future. In our turn, as a town-planning committee, we observe the fulfillment of all regulatory requirements in construction," Dovlatkhanov added.
The Baku White City Project is designed to restore and develop the eastern part of Baku's center (Black City), which covers 621 hectares, in order to attract investments.
The master plan of the Baku White City provides for the creation of 10 universal urban-type districts.
Along with Azerbaijani specialists, foreign engineering companies are involved in the project.
