Iran produces about 90 percent of its electricity grid and electricity distribution equipment, and in terms of electricity generation Iran is the first among the Middle Eastern countries, 14th in the world, Deputy Director for Strategic Production of Iran's Power Generation Company Abdurasul Pishahang told reporters at the 18th International Electricity Exhibition of Iran, Young Journalists Club reported.
Pishahang noted that there are 91 thermal power plants in Iran; of them, 39 are state-owned and 41 belong to the private sector, and other 11 plants are under construction.
"In the first six months of the current Iranian year, 2.18 percent of the fuel used at power plants accounted for diesel, and 2.33 percent for fuel oil," he added.
