A $130 million investment agreement has been signed between Iran’s Tehran City Hall and a South Korean company KRC Co. Ltd. on electricity generation from waste in Tehran, IRNA reported.
After 2,5 years of negotiations, a contract for electricity generation from methane at Aradkuh disposal center was signed between Ganjineh Atieh Kish Co., owned by Tehran City Hall Pension Fund, and South Korea’s KRC Co. Ltd. at an official ceremony.
With the commissioning of this economic and environmental project, for the 20-year period, Tehran City Hall will earn income of about $2.857 million per year from the sale of electricity and about $21.428 million per year from the prevention of the spread of methane and carbon dioxide.
According to statistics, an average of 8,000-9,000 tons of waste is collected daily in Tehran.
