The US sanctions waiver for Iran’s Chabahar Port is an exclusive opportunity for Iran to strengthen the port’s activity, Iranian MP Hossein Hashemi Takhti said in an interview with the Young Reporters Club (YRC).
He said that Iran may increase its imports and exports with the help of this port, as India is ready to develop the Shahid Beheshti port of the Chabahar Port.
He added that transportation of mining materials is mainly carried out via the Chabahar Port. Steps should be taken to strengthen port operations with India, Afghanistan and Pakistan, he said.
“The Chabahar Port is a great place to bring foreign currency to Iran,” he noted. “So far, all infrastructure of this port has been upgraded. Only some work regarding the port’s operatorship remained, and this will be also improved with cooperation with India.”
