Azerbaijani car plant AzerMash intends to export cars to neighboring countries in 2019, the company told Trend on Nov. 21.

“The export of Khazar cars, which are in good demand in the domestic market, is planned to be arranged,” the company said.

"Presently, negotiations are underway and issues related to supplies to Russia and Ukraine are being discussed,” the company said. “The exports may expand in the future and cover other CIS countries."

“The production of cars with an automatic transmission is planned to be arranged in 2019,” the company said.

The "Khazar" automobile plant is located in the south-eastern Azerbaijan in the Neftchala industrial zone. All cars produced at the plant comply with Euro-5 standards.

On Aug. 6, 2016, big Iranian automaker Iran Khodro and Azerbaijani company Azeurocar (a subsidiary of AzerMash) signed an agreement to establish a joint automobile plant in Neftchala.

The total cost of the project is estimated at 24 million manats. Thus, 75 percent of investments in the plant were made by the Azerbaijani side, while 25 percent - the Iranian side.

(1.7 manats = $1 on Nov. 21)
