Ambassador: Iran's exports to Russia increase

Iran and Russia have serious will to expand economic cooperation, Iran's Ambassador to Russia Mehdi Sanai said on his Twitter page.

Iran's exports to Russia increased by 42 percent over last nine months,Sanai noted, adding that trade turnover between the two countries has increased by 10 percent.

The ambassador noted that 50 percent of Iran's exports to Russia account for agricultural products.

Presently, the trade turnover between Iran and Russia is $2.2 billion. Iran exports goods worth $500 million to Russia, and in turn imports Russian goods worth $1.7 billion.

Earlier head of the State Duma Committee on Transport and Construction said Russia is seeking to raise trade with Iran by 30 percent within a three-year period.

"To expand cooperation, we started with making railways," Yevgeny Moskvichev further said.
