Rice harvesting over in Turkmenistan's north

Rice harvesting has successfully been completed in the Dashoguz province of Turkmenistan, the "Neutral Turkmenistan" newspaper reported.

In 2018, the farmers of the province successfully coped with the annual task of rice harvesting. Over 35,106 tons of high quality rice varieties Nukus-2, Munbashi and Alenga have been harvested from 8,100 hectares of rice paddies, the report said.

It was earlier reported that Turkmenistan planned to produce about 82,500 tons of rice in 2018 and the rice was planned to be sown in 18,300 hectares of paddies the country's Dashoguz and Lebap provinces.

Rice is rich in carbohydrates and is considered one of the main food products in Central and South-East Asia.
