Trend:

The Head of Iran National Carpet Center said that the quantity of wool in the market currently meets the needs of carpet manufacturers and wool exports do not hurt the Persian carpet brand.

Given the rising US dollar rates, wool exports are natural, but currently, wool needed to meet carpet manufacturers demands is provided, Chairwoman of Iran National Carpet Center, Fereshteh Dastpak told Trend.

He was referring to a recent statement by a member of the board of directors of the Handmade Carpet Exporter Union about the threat of exporting Iranian raw materials.

"Currently, one of the main types of wool used to produce carpets is being imported, while the lower-grade wool is manufactured in the country," she said.

“Wool is a product that cannot be stored, which is why the manufacturers of this product are exporting it,” she said.

“Wool exports did not threaten or hurt the Persian carpet brand on world markets, but the reason for the increase in wool exports was simply a rise in the US dollar rate and the cost-effectiveness of exporting raw materials," Dastpak explained.

“Deputies of the National Carpet Center of Iran have assessed this issue at a meeting with the officials of the Ministry of Agriculture. The Ministry of Agriculture is responsible to follow up on the issue, if there are any problems,” said Dastpak.
