Trend:

International container shipping companies enjoy up 90% worth of discounts on THC (Terminal Handling Charges) at Iran's Shahid Beheshti and Chabahar ports, Trend reports, via IRNA.

Discounts on THC (Terminal Handling Charges) for 90 percent is applied for the first three months, and the discount of 70 percent is applied for the second three months. For another three months, the discount is 30 percent.

Tariffs on the rights, duties, and costs at the Shahid Beheshti port are the cheapest tariffs in the entire Persian Gulf region and the Oman Sea, said the report.

These discounts have been applied after opening the first phase of the development project of Shahid Beheshti port.

After opening the first phase, and with the arrival of strategic equipment to Chabahar port, this port has become an international port with a desirable depth of 16.5 meters to accommodate ships of more than 100,000 tons of container carriers and bulk oil.

“Special exemptions and discounts have made it possible to increase the volume of unloading oil and non-oil goods in Chabahar port by 51 percent and container loading and unloading by 73 percent in eight recent months,” Sistan-Baluchestan Ports and Maritime Department's Director General Behrouz Aghaei told IRNA.

He added that the operational growth of the Chabahar port indicates the progress of the Ports and Maritime Organization in developing Chabahar port.

"Today, the shuffling of high-capacity vessels and the use of the most advanced strategic equipment will lead to a reduction in prices and a reduction in the time of transportation to target markets," he continued.
