Uzbekistan opens tobacco product supplies to Tajikistan, Georgia

In December 2018, the first batches of tobacco products of the British American Tobacco Uzbekistan joint venture (UzBAT) were delivered to Tajikistan and Georgia, Trend reports on Dec. 24 referring to the company's press service.

Since the 2H2018, the products of the Samarkand Cigarette Factory have been sold in the markets of neighboring Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Mongolia. However, the company intends to increase exports of finished products and is not going to be limited to the markets of Central Asia and Mongolia.

In December 2018, the first batch of tobacco products with the Made in Uzbekistan label was sent to Tajikistan. On Dec. 22, 2018, UzBAT also began to supply products to the Georgian market.

The Uzbek-British company British American Tobacco Uzbekistan (UzBAT JSC JV) was established on Nov. 22, 1994 as a joint venture with state share. The company is one of the leading foreign investors and the largest British investor in the Uzbek economy with an accumulated amount of direct investments of about $ 400 million.

At the moment, UzBAT is the only manufacturing company of the BAT group in Central Asia, which includes the Tashkent office, the Samarkand Cigarette Factory, and the Urgut Fermentation Plant for the processing of raw tobacco.

The company operates full technological and production cycle – from growing of green raw tobacco in cooperation with domestic farmers and tobacco growers to the production of finished products for the needs of the domestic market and exports.
