Azerbaijani companies will be invited to participate in a business forum in Colombia, charge d'affaires of the Azerbaijani embassy in Colombia Hamid Zeynalov told Trend.
The diplomat noted that Colombia holds large regional business forums once a year. The last such a regional business forum in Eurasia was held in October in Turkey’s Istanbul, he added.
“It is planned to hold such a regional business forum in Baku in 2020-2021. The 2019 business forum will be held in Colombia on Apr.3-5. Azerbaijani companies will be invited to this event,” said Zeynalov.
Further, the diplomat said that in particular, Colombia is interested in attracting Azerbaijani investments in the construction sphere. Currently, there is a construction boom in Colombia, he added.
“The country is interested in attracting Azerbaijani investments in all possible spheres. This is while Colombian companies want to primarily invest in the sphere of tourism, as well as real estate sector in Azerbaijan,” said Zeynalov.
He noted that Colombian companies are expected to take part in the Caspian International Realty and Investment Fair, Caspian Realty in Baku on Feb.20-22, 2019.
Zeynalov also talked about the prospects for cooperation between the two countries in the oil and gas sphere.
“Colombia has quite large volumes of gas reserves in northern part, in the Caribbean Sea. Colombia is interested in participation of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR in the development of its gas fields. Currently, exploration is underway on these territories. Colombia wants to use Azerbaijan’s great experience in the oil and gas sphere,” he added.
