Low productive quality of breeding chickens grown in Azerbaijan are the main reason for poultry farms to import them, founder of Zagatala Broyler LLC Mahammad Mammadov told Trend.
He said that broiler chickens and an incubation egg “ROSS 308” have qualitative indicators of early maturing breeds, which have the potential for rapid weight gain.
“The rights for their distribution belong to the Aviagen company, which supplies its products to more than 100 countries,” he noted. “These broilers have a huge reserve of rapid weight gain. Unfortunately, local breeding chickens and eggs grown in Azerbaijan don’t have such high indicators. We experience great difficulties here. For this reason, we have to import them from Georgia.”
It is necessary to hold symposia, specialized seminars and round table meetings with the participation of all interested parties to discuss and solve important problems in this industry, Mammadov says.
The company earlier said that the volumes of poultry production partially cover domestic demand, and the company intends to increase the share of chicken imports in order to expand the broiler poultry production.
In recent years, the company has increased the import of breeding chickens about five times. In 2017, the company imported about 100,000 chickens, while in 2018, this figure reached 120,000 chickens.
