The industrial production in Kazakhstan grew by 1.9 percent in January this year, Trend reports via Kazakh media.

"Production of beverages, plastic products, light and chemical industries showed high growth," National Economy Minister Timur Suleimenov said at a government meeting.

He noted that during the reporting period, production in the mining industry increased by 6.8 percent. The increase is due to growth of 5.3 percent in oil production, 6.1 percent in natural gas production and 15.8 percent in the production of non-ferrous metal ores.

"Agriculture also demonstrates steady growth. Production increased by 3.5 percent. The increase is due to growth in livestock production by 3.6 percent. At the same time, crop production remained at the level of last year," Suleimenov added.

Meanwhile, there is a downward trend in the construction sector. Construction work has decreased by 1.8 percent. According to the minister, this was affected by a decrease in the work on the construction of apartment and industrial buildings, educational facilities, oil and gas pipelines.
