The details of the establishment of barter companies in Iran need more clarification, Pedram Soltani, First Vice President of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA), told Ibena, Trend reports.

Soltani said that the statement of the Iranian government needs transparency.

According to him, currently many Iranian businessmen trade with barter.

"The government has not announced whether the barter with trade partners conducted by barter companies will be in accordance with state agreements or not?" he said.

According to Soltani, if such companies operate in this framework, they will, in actuality, be carrying products instead of money.

Soltani added that the government can, through barter companies, import substantial products from other countries in exchange for oil, oil products, petrochemicals and steel products.

"Creating such companies under existing conditions can be a solution for avoiding sanctions," he said.

The US imposed sanctions on Iran in November 2018.
