Turkmenistan privatizes fish industry

The "Ahalbalyk", "Balkanbalyk", "Daşoguzbalyk", "Lebapbalyk" and "Marybalyk" state enterprises have been privatized by members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan (UIET), Trend reports referring to “Vatan” newspaper.

In 2018, the volume of imported fish products dropped by 43.5 percent, while the export of canned fish amounted to 73.3 tons. In January-February 2019, the volume of produced fish products amounted to 480 tons.

Thus, in order to increase the fish reserves, the "Daşoguzbalyk" enterprise of the Dashoguz Region released 16 million juvenile fishes into lakes and reservoirs of the region.

The “Marybalyk” enterprise in the Murgab District of the Mary Region carries out repair and construction work in a 76-hectare reservoir for growing juvenile fishes.

The “Ahalbalyk” enterprise in the Kaka District of the Ahal Region is building basins with geotextile and geomembrane coating. In addition, it is planned by the "Hazarbalyk" company to obtain caviar from sturgeon grown by the industrial method for sale on the domestic and foreign markets by 2020.
