An official delegation led by Uzbek Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov arrived in Hungary to attend the meeting of Uzbek-Hungarian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, Trend reports with reference to press service of the Ministry.

Umurzakov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Hungary, Peter Szijjarto, in Budapest.

The ministers exchanged views on prospects for bilateral cooperation, meaning the expansion of investment partnership and increasing trade turnover between two countries.

It was noted that Uzbekistan in the past two years has become one of the most open states for establishing sustainable economic relations due to the accelerated institutional reforms in the country.

Szijjarto expressed hope for a further rapprochement between Hungary and Uzbekistan, which will undoubtedly have a positive effect on development of both countries by strengthening the economic and socio-cultural partnership.

Moreover, Uzbek-Hungarian Business Forum on trade and economic cooperation was held with the participation of Uzbek Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, as well as heads of sector departments and ministries.

From the Hungarian side, the event was attended by representatives of big business in the agro-industrial sector, animal husbandry, construction and engineering, energy, pharmaceuticals, mechanical engineering, information and communication technologies and tourism.

The Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary Petra Pana noted the great opportunities for inter-country cooperation in the exchange of technologies, scientific developments and the development of vocational education, and expressed the hope that the flow of tourists to both directions will increase this year.

At the end of the forum, a number of documents were signed between Hungarian entrepreneurs and representatives of Uzbek sector departments and ministries, defining the scope and timing of cooperation between the two parties in implementation of specific projects.
