Kazakhstan's insurance companies earn over $150 M

The profit of insurance companies in Kazakhstan in January-February 2019 amounted to 12.7 billion tenge, which is 64.7 percent more than the same period of 2018, Trend reports via Uzbek media.

Insurance companies gained profit for January-February second year in a row after losses in the first two months of 2017 (−4.4 billion tenge).

Revenues of insurance companies in January-February 2019 increased by 24.8 percent compared with January-February last year and amounted to 57.1 billion tenge ($150.564 million). Expenditures for the same period rose slightly less by 16.7 percent, to 44.3 billion tenge.

A significant share in the income of insurance companies is the income from insurance activities with 87.4 percent (49.9 billion tenge). Investment income accounts for 11.7 percent (6.7 billion tenge). Revenues from other activities account for only 0.9 percent (495.1 million tenge), while other income accounts for only 0.02 percent (13.6 million tenge).
