Czech entrepreneurs have real opportunities to invest in Azerbaijan and they are ready to cooperate actively in the industry sphere, Tomas Hodac, Manager of the Czech Union of Industrialists, told Trend on May 17.

He said that Azerbaijan has an impressive potential for the development of cooperation in the industrial production sector and the country is a promising area for Czech business.

“In Azerbaijan, we would like to implement innovative projects directly aimed at developing the Smart City system,” he said. “Czech companies involved in the field of industrial automation may connect to the projects of this type.”

He noted that the Czech Republic can provide industrial products for the needs of the engineering industry, for the construction of railway lines and other sectors. “In particular, Czech companies might join the North-South railway project, considering that Azerbaijan is involved in it as a transit country,” he said. “I believe that the Czech Republic might use this opportunity and take part in the construction of the railway branch.”

Hodac further noted that the Czech Republic is considering the possibility of creating joint ventures in Azerbaijan.

“Azerbaijan is interested in localizing the production of Czech companies in the country and in creating joint ventures in the industrial sector,” he commented. “We do not exclude this possibility in perspective.”

He said that in turn, the Czech company Skoda is interested in more active promotion of its cars in Azerbaijan. Unfortunately, this brand is not sufficiently in demand in the Azerbaijani market, he noted.
