By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend:

In the beginning of May the cultivation of sugar beets of German brand KWS launched in settlements of Kazakhstan’s Pavlodar region, Trend reports via Pavlodarnews.

The cultivation is being done by local cooperative, which includes 10 major holdings of the region. The seeds of sugar beet were provided by Pavlodar Agricultural Experiment Station for free. Overall, eight types of German brand KWS sugar beet were cultivated in the area.

“The advantages of these types are in their high crop productivity and high sugar content,” the report said.

“In the region’s climate the volume of cultivated crop can reach 50 tons per hectare. The high sugar content is necessary for the sugar manufacturing. The sugar content of the beet used in the South of the country is 14 percent, whereas the sugar content of Pavlodar region beet is estimated to be 20-22 percent,” the statement said.

In fall, following the maturing of the crops, the specialists will determine which settlements of the region are best suited for the future sugar beet cultivation.

Furthermore, the sugar beet crops will be used as raw material for the sugar factory in Aksu city of Pavlodar region.
