Kazakhstan aims to have nearly 120 renewable energy sources by 2021

The number of renewable energy sources in Kazakhstan will equal to 119 objects in 2021, said Kanat Bozumbaev, the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan, Trend reports referring to Kazinform.

“Since the beginning of 2019 seven sources of renewable energy were already put into operation. The output capacity of these sources amounts to 147.6 MW,” the statement said.

“Thus, currently some 74 renewable energy sources operate in the country. The output capacity of these objects is 678.6 MW,” said the minister.

“Another 10 sources of renewable energy, the output capacity of which equals to 236 MW are to be put into operation before the end of the current year,” said Bozumbaev.

“Consequently, the number of renewable energy sources is to be increased up to 95 objects (1,483 MW) in 2020 and to 119 objects (2,096 MW) in 2021,” reads the message.

Furthermore, the operating system of the development of renewable energy sources state support was enshrined in the law of Kazakhstan in 2009.
