Turkish company building power transmission line from Turkmenistan to S.Asia

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has received head of Calik Holding Ahmet Calik, Trend reports referring to the Turkmen government.

Calik spoke about the current work on the construction of a 500-kilovolt power transmission line along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, Turkmen Dovlet Habarlary (TDH) state agency said.

Reportedly, the construction operations are being carried out according to the plan.

“The implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) power transmission line project will enable the transit of electricity to other Southeast Asian countries, the governments of which have repeatedly declared great interest in the rapid implementation of this project,” the president said.

Turkmenistan has been already supplying electricity to neighboring Afghanistan.

Earlier, the Turkmen Ministry of Energy said that there are great opportunities for the transit of Turkmen electricity through Afghanistan to Tajikistan, Pakistan and India.

Turkmenistan intends to generate electricity up to 35.5 billion kilowatt-hours by 2030.
