It is forecasted that 270 solar panel water heaters will be installed free of charge in the villages of Iran’s southwestern Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province during the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2019), Abdal Mirfardi, an official from the provincial branch of Iran’s Forests, Range and Watershed Management Organization in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province, told IRNA, Trend reports.

According to him, each water heater can provide a family of 8 people in a day.

Mirfardi added that 800 sets of solar panel water heaters were installed free of charge last Iranian year (March 21, 2018-March 20, 2019).

The official said that the installation of said water heaters prevents the cutting of trees.

"Some 45 million rials (app. $1,071) are spent on each solar panel water heater," he said.

There are 871,000 hectares of forest in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province of Iran. The trees in these forests are being cut off each year due to the lack of fuel and energy.
