Oman has expressed readiness to invest in Iranian Chabahar port's development plans, which include establishing maritime cooperation and flying routes, said the country's Minister of Transport and Communications Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Salim al Futaisi.

He noted the necessity to boost transportation and infrastructure cooperation while Iran's Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade has indicated that facilities and incentives will be provided to Omani investors to develop bilateral relations, Trend reports citing IRNA.

Iran's Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Reza Rahmani held a meeting with the Omani minister and other high-ranking officials of trade, industry and maritime sectors, to develop economic relations during his two day visit to Muscat.

One of the main topics during the meeting was developing the Iran-Oman ties, cooperation with Oman in the International North–South Transport Corridor to connect ports and railways of two countries and lead them to Central Asia market.

"Expanding ties with neighbors has special place in Iran's policies and we think of win-win strategic relations," said Rahmani.

Two sides have negotiated the access to Central Asia and African markets, boosting cargo transportation, facilitating trade and resolving challenges for Iranian companies that reside in Oman.

"The two countries have a desirable political relation that is an important base for development of trade ties. Expanding relations in the industry, mine and joint investment alongside resuming exports is a necessity," Iranian official said.

Rahmani has expressed Iran's readiness to provide incentives to Omani investors and businessmen.

Encouraging joint investments, presence in free zones in two countries and exporting food items (fruits and vegetables) were the other issues that were discussed during the meeting.

The necessity to reach $4 billion in bilateral trade was noted during the meeting.
