External Merchandise Trade of Georgia decreases

In January-June 2019 external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to $5.968 million, 0.6 percent lower year-on-year, Trend reports with reference to the National Statistic Office of Georgia.

The value of export increased by 11.5 percent reaching $1.775 million, while the import decreased by 4.9 percent and amounted to $4.192 million. The trade deficit equaled $2.417 million and its share in trade turnover stood at 40.5 percent.

In January-April of 2019 external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of the country amounted to $2.825 million. The value of export in first quarter of 2018 amounted to $825 million and import of the same period resulted in $200,000.

In May 2019 export amounted to $335.8 million, which is $12 million less compared to the same period last year. The volume of imports in May 2019 decreased by $49.3 million compared to the same period last year and amounted to $760.8 million.

In June 2019, export totaled $307.2 million and decreased by $600,000 compared to the same period last year. The volume of imports in June 2019 decreased by $91.2 million compared to the same period last year and constituted $688 million.
