Producer Price Index for Industrial Products in Georgia increases

In June 2019, Producer Price Index for Industrial Products (PPI) in Georgia increased by 1.2 percent compared to May 2019, Trend reports citing the National Statistics Office of Georgia.

In comparison with the corresponding month of the last year, the index growth amounted to 6.4 percent. The prices for manufactured products increased by 1.1 percent compared to May 2019, resulting in 0.87 percentage point contribution to the overall monthly PPI change.

The annual PPI rate was mainly affected by the price changes for the manufactured products. In January-June 2019, their prices increased by 8.8 percent, contributing 7.03 percentage points to the overall annual index growth. Prices also increased for food products, beverages and tobacco (by 9.6 percent) and basic metal and fabricated metal products (by 8.5 percent).

The prices for the products from mining and quarrying increased by 5.5 percent, contributing 0.37 percentage points to the overall annual index growth. The prices for electricity, gas, steam and hot water declined by 8.6 percent and contributed 0.98 percentage points to the overall annual PPI change.
