Number of enterprises with foreign capital in Uzbekistan almost doubles

As of July 1, 2019, the number of operating enterprises with foreign capital in Uzbekistan reached 9,014, Trend reports via Uzbek media.

Compared with the same period last year, it increased by 2,720 units, or 43.2 percent. Most of them relate to the subjects of Russia, Turkey, China, Kazakhstan and South Korea.

The largest number of operating enterprises and organizations by regions falls on Tashkent (5,427 units), the Tashkent region (987 units), the Samarkand region (465 units) and the Fergana region (348 units).

The smallest number falls on the Khorezm (111 units), Syrdarya (129 units) and Karakalpakstan regions (135 units). Out of them, 4,618 enterprises with foreign capital are joint ventures, and 4,396 are foreign enterprises.

In January-June 2019, 1,715 new enterprises with the participation of foreign capital were created in the country. This figure increased by 752 units compared to the same period last year.

The main part of enterprises with the participation of foreign capital falls on the city of Tashkent - 926 units (54 percent), Tashkent region - 150 units (8.7 percent and Surkhandarya region - 92 units (5.4 percent).

The smallest share was recorded in Karakalpakstan region - 20 units (1.2 percent), Syrdarya region - 26 units (1.5 percent) and Khorezm region - 38 units (2.2 percent).

The increase of the number of enterprises with the participation of the capital of residents of Russia was 251, Turkey - 231, China - 289, Kazakhstan - 179 and South Korea - 115.

In terms of the economic activities of the newly created enterprises with the participation of foreign capital, the largest number falls on industry - 527 units (30.7 percent), trade - 501 units (29.2 percent), construction - 195 units (11.4 percent), and agriculture, forestry and fisheries - 144 units (8.4 percent).

The smallest number falls on health care and social services - 29 units (1.7 percent), information and communication - 38 units (2.2 percent), transportation and storage - 42 units (2.4 percent), and services for accommodation and catering - 70 units (4.1 percent).
