Uzbekistan to establish domestic brand of agricultural equipment
Baku, Azerbaijan, August 2
By Fakhri Vakilov - Trend:
Uzbekistan plans to start production of budget agricultural machinery and create its own brand, Trend reports with reference to the presidential decree.
The document states that Uzbekistan will develop a program for the development of the agricultural machinery industry until 2025.
The country will organize the production of small-scale mechanization equipment, begin to produce more types of machinery for gardening, fruit-growing and cattle breeding, introduce modern methods of corporate management and optimize vacant areas of machine-tractor parks.
By 2020, the share of exports of finished products should grow to 20 percent, and by 2025 - up to 30 percent.
In addition, the decree provides for the introduction of a new order of state support for agricultural mechanization. In particular, in 2019-2021, enterprises will be provided with 15 percent of subsidies for the purchase of equipment manufactured in Uzbekistan.
Moreover, 80 percent compensation of transportation costs for transportation of combines for the provision of services abroad is in the plans as well.
Last year, more than 33,700 units of agricultural equipment were delivered to agricultural producers, primarily farmers, organizers of cotton-textile production and clusters.
This is one and a half times more than the year before. However, more than 25 percent of the available agricultural machinery has been in operation for over 15 years.
