Iran’s northwestern Gilan Province currently has the potential to generate 3,000 megawatts of wind power, as stated by the CEO of Gilan Province Regional Power Company Azim Bolbolabadi, Trend reports referring to the Iranian Energy Ministry's website.

According to him, this could potentially increase electricity production in the province by 32 times.

Bolbolabadi said that this potential is centered in and around the city of Manjil in the province’s southern Rudbar County.

"So far, 92.3 megawatts of alternative renewable energy plants have been commissioned in Gilan Province," he said.

Bolbolabadi added that it will be possible to maximize the potential of wind energy in the province if necessary conditions for private sector’s investments are created.
