Turkmen-Uzbek political consultations have been held in Ashgabat, Trend reports referring to the foreign ministries of the two countries.
The delegations were led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and his Uzbek counterpart Abdulaziz Kamilov.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan reported that special attention was paid to enhancing inter-regional cooperation, strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties, including by restoring the direct Tashkent-Ashgabat air route, organizing bus services between regional centers of the two countries and simplifying the procedure for mutual trips of citizens.
The importance of organizing mutual visits at the highest level, which make an important contribution to the development of the Turkmen-Uzbek dialogue, was stressed, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan noted.
The sides noted the need to expand cooperation in the field of water and land management. The possibilities of exchanging visits at various levels to familiarize with the potential of the two countries in the field of engineering, education and tourism were also considered.
