Uzbek Samarkand region to implement 22 projects in agricultural sector

In order to improve the agricultural sector and organize the processing of fruits, vegetables and grapes this year, 22 projects worth a total of 168.3 billion soums are to be implemented within the framework of relevant state programs in the Samarkand region of Uzbekistan, Trend reports via Uzbek media.

To date, six projects with a total value of 15.8 billion soums have already been implemented in the Jambai, Ishtyhan and Urgut regions.

Furthermore, in accordance with the decree of the president of Uzbekistan "On additional measures for the deep processing of agricultural products and the further development of the food industry" dated July 29 this year, it is planned to realize 18 projects with a total value of 193.7 billion soums and launch new production capacities in the amount of 57,650 tons.

In particular, within the framework of a project for the processing of agricultural products, the implementation of which is entrusted to Tanais sharbat LLC in the Payaryk district, construction work has been completed and the facilities are being prepared for commissioning.

Currently, there are 1,431 food industry enterprises in the Samarkand region. In the first half of this year, 242 enterprises in this sector were created.

Last year, 2.315 million tons of fruits, vegetables and grapes were grown in the region, of which only 12.5 percent were processed, that is, 290,100 tons.
