Work on optimizing the use of agricultural land continues in Turkmenistan, Trend reports referring to the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper.

Land plots to be sown with wheat for next year's harvest will be reduced from 760,000 to 690,000 hectares. It is also planned to reduce the amount of wheat harvesting from 1.6 million tons this year to 1.4 million tons next year.

The land freed from winter cereals will be used for cotton, the article reads. This year, 550,000 hectares of land are allocated for cotton. A total of 1.050 million tons of cotton is planned.

In addition, the cultivation of this crop on 25,567 hectares was first begun by private producers of agricultural products, who received plots from a special land fund for agricultural purposes.

It is planned to collect 1.250 million tons of cotton next year. Government procurement prices for cotton and wheat in Turkmenistan have been significantly increased this year.
