In the first five months of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2019), sales of the National Iranian Copper Industries Company (NICICO) amounted to 84.6 trillion rials (roughly $2.01 billion), NICICO's CEO Ardeshir Saad Mohammadi said, Trend reports referring to the company's website.
The sales are estimated to reach 100 trillion rials (roughly $2.38 billion) by Sept. 22 (end of the sixth month of the current Iranian year), which will be equal to the amount of sales in the last Iranian year as a whole (March 21, 2018-March 20, 2019), Mohammadi said.
He noted that the old equipment at copper melting plant in Khatunabad city of Iran's Kerman province will be replaced with new modern equipment to increase output.
The main goals in upgrading the equipment at the plant are to increase the production capacity from 80,000 tons to 120,000 tons and to improve the protection of environment, Mohammadi said.
He added that the plant will soon resume production and the environmental pollution around the plant will stop.
