Red meat production in the areas populated by Iranian nomads increased by 20 percent, Iran's Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Head of the Iran Nomad Affairs Organization Karamali Qandali said, Trend reports via IRNA.

He said that this Iranian year (started March 21, 2019) rainfall fostered the increase in the production of meat.

He added that 25 percent of the red meat in Iran is produced by nomads.

“Iran’s nomads, who have 23 million head of cattle, produce 190,000 tons of red meat per year,” he said.

He noted that 1.2 million nomads annually produce 6 million tons of dairy, livestock and gardening products.

He said that 35 million hectares of land in Iran are at the disposal of nomads, adding that they annually produce about 35,000 tons of dairy products and 35 percent of Iran’s handicrafts industry.

He noted that loans worth 5 trillion rials (about $119 million) are planned to be allocated to nomads in Iran this year.
